Mark Goodman co-founded Brookline Venture Partners in 2004 and is leading the firm's transition into clean energy technology. Mark is responsible for all aspects of deal sourcing, due diligence, fundraising, and portfolio company strategy. He serves on the board of Volicon Inc., and his most recent investment is Consumer United. Mark has also been involved with other Brookline Ventures investments including GenuOne (acquired by OpSec Security Group), Acme Packet (APKT), and Circle Lending (acquired by Virgin Money USA).

Mark is a member of Environmental Entrepreneurs and has been a Mentor and Judge for the MIT Ignite Clean Energy competition.

Mark worked at First Chicago Corporation from 1989 to 1992 where he rotated through syndications and asset sales, high yield securities, commercial real estate disposition, and foreign exchange options while completing an MBA at Kellogg in the evenings. As a corporate banking associate in New York, Mark was responsible for credit analysis of securities and commodities firms.

Mark left the business world at the end of 1993 in order to pursue a doctorate in philosophy at Boston College. He taught philosophy and interdisciplinary courses as a doctoral student and later as a Lecturer at both Boston College and Emerson College. Mark lived in Paris and conducted research in Germany while writing his dissertation.

From 2001 to 2003, Mark created philosophy-based seminars for management teams which he conducted for clients including the Coca-Cola Corporation, Bertucci's Corp., and the University of the Middle East Project.

Mark holds a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Emory University where he graduated phi beta kappa, an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and an MA and PhD in Philosophy from Boston College.

Mark was an original member of the Obama National Finance Committee and New England Steering Committee. He was a leading national fundraiser and a surrogate speaker on economic and Middle East policy. Mark is on the Board of the Boston chapter of the American Jewish Committee and a past Chair of its diplomatic outreach committee. He speaks French and (some) German. Mark and his wife are involved in Boston's art community through his wife's art gallery and their support of the Institute of Contemporary Art. Mark lives with his wife and two daughters in Cambridge.
